Linda Noonan

Senior Pastor

Linda has spent the last 25 years of ministry between South Africa and the United States. Ordained by the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa, Linda holds standing in the United Church of Christ. Her work in South Africa included teaching Feminist Theology at the University of Durban-Westville, serving as a chaplain and teacher and doing crisis work during a period of violent conflict in the country.

In the United States, she has served in urban congregations in Chicago, worked as a pediatric hospital chaplain, a hospice chaplain, organized congregations and groups for social justice, co-led church delegations to Southern Africa and Chiapas, Mexico and was editor and coordinator of a Lutheran advocacy project on Southern Africa.

Linda has been on the pastoral staff of Chestnut Hill United Church (formerly Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church) since 2001. She is currently in the PhD Program at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and is studying worship, ritual, and social action.

She is also Vice President of UCC Ministers for Racial, Social and Economic Justice (MRS EJ), and a member of the Sponsoring Committee forĀ POWER: Philadelphians Organized to Witness, Empower and Rebuild: An Interfaith Movement.

Linda has two daughters, loves to eat anything they bake and reads everything they recommend.
